Sandra Cáceres Simons explores the interconnection between humans and the delicate balance of nature, writing:
“I pay attention to the sky above, and the ground below, the air I inhale and exhale, the sun burning. I grow plants, I examine them, and I get involved in their life cycle. I focus on the hidden root system; it's a form of introspection.”
At her artistic and experimental laboratory in Arequipa, Peru, she empathises with micro- and macro-perspectives of her plants in order to reflect on time, growth, decay and memory as an ongoing cycle.
Developing her artistic language through drawings, paintings, installations, photography, soft sculptures and textiles, Cáceres Simons is a truly multidisciplinary artist. She familiarises herself with the properties, benefits and possibilities of raw, organic, biodegradable and recycled matters, which she then applies to add tactile and sensory qualities to her work.
She has been exhibited at solo and group exhibitions, as well as festivals and fairs. Moreover she is a professor of design, consultant to the textile and fashion sector and honorary member in the International Alpaca Association.
Cáceres Simons is one of BLOC Art’s represented artists.
